Welcome, Spring! Persephone returns, flowers blooming under her feet as she walks under the sun’s warmth again.
Welcome to the vernal (spring) equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, while the Southern Hemisphere experiences its autumnal equinox. It is hard to believe it has been six months since the autumnal equinox of the North. Once again, I made a watercolor to celebrate this moment of equal day and equal night (hence “equinox”). For the Northern Hemisphere, my art shows daffodils and apple blossoms; for the Southern Hemisphere, autumn-hued deciduous beech (fagus) and bottlebrush.
We in the Northern Hemisphere revel in gladness that winter ends, and new life begins. Buds burgeon and delicate, pale green leaves reach for the stronger sun’s rays as the days lengthen. The birds begin their migration north to summer breeding grounds. The time has come for setting aside the chill and darkness of winter. Now we reach for the sun as the leaves do. We open to possibility and our energy levels return.
All at once I feel rejuvenated, and accordingly, opportunities abound. Things are blossoming here. I hope your Spring or your Autumn, depending on where you live, brings you delight.
