It was a straightforward signing, with guests simply coming up to me and chatting about the book, and having their copy signed. That was a great introduction to the life of being a published author.
I attended a second book signing at Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore this week! Mysterious Galaxy is what I would consider a destination bookstore. Chock full of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other genre books, Mysterious Galaxy plays host to many events. I have attended a number of writing workshops held at the store. Every person there is friendly and helpful. It’s a gem of a store and worth your visit!
As soon as I walked in the door, I met a display of several copies of my books! That was a major thrill for me–it really hit home, made it seem more real, to see my books on shelves. The store employees set up chairs for attendees, and helped me get set up.
After everyone arrived, I spoke about my book, and then answered questions. This was where the magic happened. Talking and answering questions about this novel, and indeed the entire planned series, gave me the unique opportunity to interact with readers. And the questions they asked me were just delightful. We talked about my own history, the decisions I made about setting and space station design, and my influences. I made some new connections, and really enjoyed talking to each person who came up after my talk to get a book signed. And after it was over, I signed more copies for the store shelves.
I want to thank the staff of Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore for giving me this moment. I’m learning that I really enjoy author events, and I look forward to more in the future!
Thank you, readers, for helping make this possible!
