At last, the time has come to hit the road. Destination: total solar eclipse 2017! I will report back here with some of the scenery and adventures as we head through Utah and up to Idaho to reach the path of totality.

This eclipse is unique, as it will be the last opportunity to see a total solar eclipse entirely crossing the United States for many years. Much of the U.S. will experience a partial eclipse. I am aiming to see the total one, which is something I’ve never experienced. My artwork above exemplifies the sun’s outer atmosphere or corona spreading out from the eclipsed sun, covered by the moon.

While there’s no guarantee of perfect weather, and the traffic might be legendary, I think this is a can’t-miss opportunity and I’m grateful to go.
