This past weekend I attended my first convention as a published author! From February 22-24, I shared a table with local authors Tone Milazzo and Melissa Milazzo at ConDor Con in San Diego, California.
ConDor Con was established in 1993, with guests of honor Octavia Butler and J. Michael Straczynski, just as his show Babylon 5 was starting. ConDor has continued ever since. It is a fantasy and science fiction convention, and this year’s theme was “Through the Looking Glass: Alternate Realities.” This was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. There were panels, cosplay opportunities, amazing prop displays, and a vendor room, where we signed books. This was the 26thConDor.
ConDor is an intimate con, something quite unique in this era of giant conventions. I could tell immediately that this was a tradition for many guests, and several greeted each other from times past. I struck up some incredible conversations with so many wonderful people. The cosplay was just stellar. And I gained some new readers for Heliopause: The Questrison Saga: Book One, for which I am so grateful! Of course, I brought my brownies.
I’ve included several photos over the course of the event, and I really wish I could have visited and spoken with everyone there.
If you get a chance, support ConDor in the future and stop by this lovely community convention to meet outstanding people celebrating science fiction and fantasy.
